East of the Village and into Alphabet City lies 9C, a refuge for those still heartbroken by the gentrification of downtown. At this old fashioned, rock ‘n' roll dive, tattooed bartenders serve strong drinks to tough guys and gals. The beer is cheap and you never have to worry about a cover charge. Between local bands, the bar hosts the occasional drag show. There is a happy hour seven days a week. Cash only.
