After a rocky start, renowned French restaurateur Alain Ducasse received a four-star New York Times review for this outpost of his culinary empire. Located at Essex House Hotel, the restaurant manages to pack customers in despite (or perhaps because of) its exorbitant prices. Circular booths and intimate tables are in a gorgeous space with dark wood paneling and marble columns. The exotic menu includes Foie Gras poached in Pepper Bouillon. A mandatory five-course or six-course prixe fixe dinner is offered at dinner. One seating only, jacket and tie required.
