Ceiling fans, striped chairs, low candles and palm trees create a mysterious tropical ambience at this trendy downtown spot, as music plays softly in the background. The upscale restaurant is especially popular with young black urban professionals, who come for the scene just as much as for the food. The menu is spicy and bold, filled with updated Caribbean cuisine. Mussels in Bambou broth, crisp crab cakes, allspice roasted rack of lamb and curried Eggplant Soup are all crowd pleasers. Entrees average around $20.
