Capoeira is an ancient Brazilian form of dance and martial arts, invented by African slaves. It is an elegant and high-energy way to get fit, and this funky downtown studio offers classes from the beginning to expert levels. Master Joao Grande, who owns and runs the studio, has studied this art his entire life and worked with some of the world's greatest masters. Students dance to music made specifically for capoeira.
