Dirtier and more of a dive than just about any other club in Manhattan, CBGB's reeks of rock-and-roll attitude. It is the old man of punk clubs, with a long list of top bands having played there (including The Police, Talking Heads, B52s, Blondie, The Ramones and many others). Up and coming young groups still want to perform at CBGB's in homage to their idols, despite the existence of newer, edgier clubs downtown and in Brooklyn. Cash only. A mellower scene exists next door at CB's 313 Gallery.
