The Theater District has plenty of Italian restaurants, but Ciro manages to stand out with its friendly bar and attractive décor. The pasta is always fresh and handmade, and the service is friendly and efficient. A good start is the fried calamari or the baked and stuffed clams. Try some Spiedini, a fried mozzarella and bread combination with tomato and basil. Soups include Stracciatella Romana, a chicken consomme with egg and spinach. The delicious Scallopini alla Sorrentina is veal with prosciutto, eggplant and cheese.
