This 40-floor luxury hotel was built in 1931. It is perfectly situated right across from Central Park, and close to Carnegie Hall and Fifth Avenue shopping. The hotel has been fully renovated, but retains its original art deco style. The rooms are elegantly furnished, and the marble bathrooms have double sinks and separate bathtubs and showers. An in-room safe is available in all rooms. The famed Alain Ducasse at the Essex House is perhaps the finest (and certainly the most expensive) restaurant in the city.
