This historical restaurant almost single-handedly invented New American cuisine when it opened in 1959, introducing seasonal ingredients to the New York restaurant world. Four Seasons may not be as important as it once was, but certain members of the city's upper echelon continue to make it their home base. A meal normally averages around $75 per person, but the price includes the opportunity to dine in a breathtaking space designed by architect Phillip Johnson. The Pool Room features a lit-up pool, and a definitive wine list and noteworthy staff add to the experience.
