Opened in 1997 by Isabelle “Izzy” Alexanian, this fun split-level bar caters to an eclectic mix of downtown hipster types, with the mood varying depending on the music. Upstairs is where the DJs spin, but there is no dancing (thanks to the city's strict regulations). Patrons can listen to house music, techno, funk and other dance beats nightly. Downstairs features live bands playing. It is all very cool without being pretentious.
