Chef Jarek Jaficki, who once served as chef to former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, brings his culinary skills to a quiet neighboorhood in Queens. Even though there are some internationally-inspired dishes on the menu, stick with the traditional Polish ones and you can't go wrong. The potato pancake served with beef goulasch is highly recommended, as is the veal marinated with wine and baked apples. The classic Polish pirogi comes either fried or boiled, with three different fillings. Although the decor is clean, bright, and modern, the food will definitely bring you back to the Old Country. When you dine at Kredens, be sure to bring your appetite. Their menu is loaded with items that are best measured by the pound. If heavy ethnic European food is what you're looking for, you will not be disappointed by Kredens.
