This Harlem jazz bar legend has been featured in Shaft and other movies, and it was once a hangout for Malcolm X before he became a Muslim. Billie Holiday also spent a lot of time in the front bar area. A renovation brought the lounge back to its former glory, and once again it attracts some of the finest new jazz and be-bop bands around. With reasonably priced drinks, Southern food in the back and plenty of space, it is well worth the trip uptown.
