The McCarter Highway is also known as Route 21. It stretches across a length of two miles and connects the Newark airport to the main city. The New Jersey Department of Transportation is conducting a massive project to extend the highway to six lanes and install cameras, traffic detectors and signs at major approach roads into Newark.
