This 300-room hotel (formerly the Barbizon Hotel & Towers) is considered an Upper East Side landmark. Originally built in the 1920s, for years it operated as a genteel residence for women. Many models and actresses-including Grace Kelly-called the hotel home. In the early 1980s the hotel became a general tourist hotel, but in 1997 a major renovation transformed the property into a more upscale and luxurious destination. The location is great, right near Bloomingdale's and lots of clothing boutiques. Guests also have complimentary access to the nearby Equinox Fitness Club and pool.
