In Soho being trendy is a must, and most bars come and go quickly. So the fact that MercBar has managed to remain popular for so long means they must be doing something right. This sleek lounge rode an intense wave of popularity a few years ago, followed by the inevitable down phase. Now, it has reemerged as a suave local standby. Do not assume that Merc borrowed the idea of vintage couches, exposed brick and wooden beams from others in the city-they had them first.
