New York City's vast, complex subway system consists of numerous lines stretching across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. Maps are available at most token booths, hotels and visitor information centers. The system is incredibly complicated, and even a subway map can be inaccurate due to constant repairs and shutdowns. When in doubt, ask a token booth clerk, another subway employee, or a fellow rider. No matter how many trains you take while in the system, the cost per ride for adults is $2. You can purchase either tokens or passes called Metrocards.
