People either love or hate this smoky, wood paneled bar room in the famous Plaza Hotel. Some claim it is a sophisticated though slightly tawdry New York landmark that must be experienced for what it is. Others feel it is an overpriced tourist trap. However, almost anyone would agree that the newly restored murals painted by Everett Shinn in the 1940s are worth a look. The Oak Room also features a menu of steak, seafood and other basic American dishes.
