Founded in 1971, this theater is the brainchild of Robert Moss. It was conceived as a platform for American playwrights, lyricists, and composers to display their original work. There are two stages, a 198-seater Mainstage Theater and the 128-seater Peter Jay Sharp Theater that showcase contemporary work, musicals, and play readings. The in-house production company produces all the plays.
