You could easily walk right past this tiny, streamlined bar nestled among the dives and diners of First Avenue, but it is worth noticing. On off hours, Standard is ideal for a quiet cocktail with friends, but at peak hours it might feel more like a yuppie sardine can. The décor is lacking, but you can look out the window and watch the world (or at least the East Village) float by. Cash only.
