Nestled in the basement of the upscale Takashimaya Japanese department store is this handy refuge for hungry shoppers. Lunch and afternoon tea are served here, both of which are expensive but rather elegant, and the cream-colored tearoom is a handsome and sedate refuge from the Midtown chaos outside. There are over 40 types of teas from around the world to choose from. In addition, soups, salads, fresh fruit, and finger sandwiches are offered, along with French pastries. Bento boxes of sweets and sandwiches are also popular.
