Founded in 1970, The Theater for a New City Foundation is a sprawling complex. It presents dozens of plays a year, with tickets a bargain at $5-$10. As a venue for new artists and playwrights, it presents performances that would probably otherwise not be seen by the general public. The theater embraces the community with programs such as its annual Free Summer Theater Tour, Free Ticket Program, Annual Village Halloween Festival Ball, and an annual Christmas pageant for the homeless and needy children.
